Synopsis: Sweet sixteen and never been kissed—and that’s the way Aurora Skye wants it to be. She’s too busy finding guys for her two best friends, counseling her sensitive New Age dad (the NAD), and dealing with the unexpected return of her long-absent mom. But always in the background there’s Hayden Paris, the boy next door, the bane of Aurora’s existence.
Smart, funny, and always around to see her at her worst, he ‘gets’ her like no-one else… and that’s what makes him so infuriating.
When Aurora and Hayden are coerced into the lead roles in the school production of Much Ado About Nothing, things can only get worse. How is Aurora going to save her first kiss for the secret admirer who wooed her with poetry and a spectacular bunch of flowers on Valentine’s Day if she doesn’t know who he is and she’s obligated to lock lips with Hayden in the play’s final dramatic clinch?
Aurora’s clever maneuvers can keep her away from kisses, but they can’t seem to bring her any closer to her secret admirer – a potential prince. A humorous take on the trials and tribulations of crushes, secret admirers, and first loves, HOW TO KEEP A BOY FROM KISSING YOU will keep you laughing up until the final page.
Cute contemporary novels are my favorites! I love a book that makes me both laugh and feel all kinds of emotions…and How to Keep a Boy From Kissing You was one of those books! It was a lighthearted read that is perfect for rainy days or days when you feel a little bit down – a perfect pick me up.
Aurora Skye is a sixteen year old girl who has never been kissed – and in fact, she likes it that way. She is busy spending her time trying to help her two best friends find boyfriends, so she doesn’t really care much if she has one or not. She also has to deal with her dad, who is incredibly sensitive, and the fact that her mother, who had left a long time ago, has suddenly returned and wants to be in her life again.
Sounds like enough of a difficult time for Aurora, right? Well, add in Hayden, who is the boy next door. Hayden and Aurora have not gotten along for as long as they can remember – but he’s smart and makes her laugh and knows her so well…so Aurora spends a good portion of her time wondering about her feelings for him, even though she keeps telling herself those feelings aren’t even existent.
Aurora’s character was smart and a bit on the snarky side, making me really enjoy reading this book. She and Hayden really clicked, despite her putting all of her effort into staying away from him. It was cute to watch the two of them bicker…it kind of reminded me of the whole elementary school flirting thing…you know, like back when boys and girls said each other had cooties? Anyway, it was incredibly adorable. This whole book was freakin’ adorable. I loved Hayden, too – he had the kind of attitude that you knew was getting under Aurora’s skin, but he still kept at it.
This whole book lead up to an amazing kiss that we all know is coming just by the title and synopsis…and that first love that will not only warm your heart, but stay with you for ages and remind you of your own first kiss!
If cute, fluffy romances are your thing, this book will definitely be one that you will enjoy!
