Latest innovation. Huawei has confirmed the launch of its 5G foldable smartphone at Mobile World Congress at the end of this month in Barcelona, Spain. The event from Huawei will take place on February 24 at 2 P.M CET (6:30 P.M IST) at Barcelona. At various points in the video, the people can be holding different Samsung devices. The launch event may also mark the unveiling of the Galaxy F, Samsung's first foldable smartphone. Samsung's Galaxy Foldable smartphone, shown at the 23-second mark, apparently opens like a book with a regular display on the outside but a flexible display on the inside.

Huawei's device has not made any appearances but the company has made it clear that it is interested in this technology. For now, interested smartphone users can go to preferred providers for these new phones. The foldable smartphone is expected to feature the new Balong 5000 chipset which is the company's response to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

Foldable smartphones are definitely going to be the most innovative trend of 2019. So, it will be exciting to see the lineup of Foldable Smartphone at MWC 2019. The theme for this year's MWC is "Intelligent Connectivity" which will involve information and announcements around 5G, AI, and Internet of Things (IoT). Chances are high that there will be more similarities between Huawei's foldable phone and the current Mate 20 Pro flagship device. Looking at the renders, we can not tell if the device will fold outwards or inwards only.

Huawei may have just raised the stakes somewhat by teasing the 5G capabilities for its phone.
