Number Of Rockland Measles Cases Increases As Bill Is Introduced Regarding Vaccines

More than a half-dozen more cases are suspected, and people who were exposed to the disease traveled to Hawaii and Bend, Oregon, raising the possibility of more diagnoses in the unvaccinated.

Two cases of measles were confirmed January 13, 2019 and the third measles case was confirmed January 26. Of the 41 confirmed cases, 37 are people who were not immunized and four are unverified.

Health officials in Washington state have declared a state of emergency over the measles.

"Most Oregonians have been vaccinated against measles and are protected, but there are pockets of people within communities that have low immunizations rates", public health officials said. Five cases' immunization statuses are unverified and one case was vaccinated - though with only one of the recommended two doses. There have also been three reported cases in Atlanta.

In New York, they've had more than 200 cases since October.
