Poland escape room fire: Game designer charged as victims identified

Officials in Poland say users have previously posted critical remarks about the safety of the escape room gaming site where a fire killed five teenage girls.

The girls were most likely celebrating one of their birthdays, according to police spokeswoman Monika Kosiec.

Polish officials and the fire chief have confirmed that there was indeed a safety flaw didn't allow the children to escape from the blaze when the room caught fire.

Popular with teenagers in Poland and other countries, Escape Rooms see players locked inside a room or building, finding clues to help them get out.

Escape room experiences have grown in popularity over the past few years, with more than 1,000 springing up in the United Kingdom since 2013 when there were just seven.
