Malacañang congratulated Senator Manny Pacquiao on Sunday, January 20, for winning over American Adrien Broner, as the Filipino boxer retained his World Boxing Association regular welterweight title.

Pacquiao tipped the scales at 146lbs dead, with the challenger Broner eight ounces heavier at 146.5lbs.

Mayweather, whose last outing was a farce of an exhibition bout against a Japanese kickboxer, refused the entreaties of a ringside TV reporter to indicate whether he would be willing to fight Pacquiao again. He caught Broner in the seventh and ninth rounds with big left hands that sent him backward, while Broner spent most of the fight looking for one big counter that never came.

Biegun's theory, sources say, is that the next summit's success depends on success during the lead-up to it. The US embassy in Seoul did not immediately comment on the reports.

"I wanted to push even more but y trainers told me to be careful", said Pacquiao, who boosted his win-loss-draw mark to 61-7-2 with 39 KOs. "Everybody knows I beat him", he added. I controlled the fight, he was missing.

Judges Tim Cheatham (116-112), Glenn Feldman (116-112) and Dave Moretti (117-111) all scored Pacquiao a decisive victor over Broner.

"I don't believe my career is over", Pacquiao said. "And right now I'm living a happy and healthy life".
