Huawei demoted two employees for tweeting from an iPhone, their rival

The external social media agency that Huawei uses, Sapient, was having problems with its VPN, which is needed to access Twitter from within China.

Apple may have not sold as many iPhones as it would have wanted during the Christmas quarter, but the iPhone remains the most coveted smartphone out there. However, the response seems over the top, especially when you consider that it was devised as a workaround to deal with an unforeseen technical issue involving a outsourced company.

MKBHD video blogger Marques Brownlee, who has pointed out such missteps in the past, caught Huawei's PR group using an iPhone to promote its brand. However, despite the calls for a boycott, it appears Huawei has forgotten to instruct its public relations representatives about it because they were caught using an iPhone. Now a new report has surfaced online suggesting that the company has taken stern action against the employee for the mistake.

Well it's the optics of it all. The account was later brought back by Samsung but all the tweets made from a different phone were deleted.
