As the nation mourned the death of former president George H.W. Bush over the weekend, his beloved service dog was by his side to the end.

Yet one individual, who shall go unnamed, dared to criticize Sully on the internet because she did not believe the dog's six months of service to the former president was enough to merit our attention.

Dole, 95, once faced Bush during the 1988 Republican primary fight for the presidential nomination but nonetheless maintained a decades-old friendship with the former president.

Bush's body was flown to Washington, D.C., on Monday.

In Chicago, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of IL will be closed Wednesday.

Ferried by motorcade to the Capitol along streets bathed in the auburn afternoon sun, the president ended his journey along Constitution Avenue, adorned with USA and D.C. flags flying from lamp posts.

Sully is understandably upset by the death of his longtime friend, but he is glad to have served the 41st president for almost six months.

The White House said Saturday that President Donald Trump would declare Wednesday a national day of mourning for the country's 41st president.

The public is allowed to pay its respects to Bush from 7:30 p.m. Monday (0030 GMT Tuesday) to early Wednesday.
