Tom Curry: England flanker out of New Zealand Test with ankle injury

He's avoided disciplinary action over allegations of a shoulder charge at the end of England's win over South Africa.

World Rugby said there were no citings arising from the test following reviews, or from the Wales-Scotland and Ireland-Italy matches on Saturday.

Australian referee Angus Gardner came under heavy criticism after he didn't award South Africa a penalty for what looked like a unsafe and no arms tackle by Farrell on Esterhuizen in the 84th minute of the match.

Tom Curry has been ruled out of Saturday's Test against New Zealand and the remainder of England's autumn internationals with a "serious" ankle injury.

He appeared to lead with the shoulder in tackling Andre Esterhuizen, an offence that under the current crackdown on risky tackles could have resulted in a red card being issued by referee Angus Gardner.

"Angus Gardner, the referee, accepted that Farrell had made enough of an effort to wrap his left arm in the tackle".
