"My cartoons are focused on three themes: the Zionist regime (Israel), Al Salman (Saudi royal family) and America's government", artist Masoud Shojaei Tabatabai told state television in Tehran.

The move is part of a wider effort by U.S. President Donald Trump to force Iran to further limit its nuclear work and halt a missile program, as well as end its support for proxy forces in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and other parts of the Middle East.

Among the targets are 92 entities owned or controlled by Ghadir Investment Company, which the U.S. government had previously identified as an investment firm with ties to the Execution of Iman Khomeini's Order, a state-owned enterprise under direct control of Iran's Supreme Leader.

"The decision made by the United States is absurd and very risky in its consequences as it derails one the most important worldwide agreement approved by the UN Security Council", Ulyanov said. The Trump administration is providing waivers to eight countries, allowing them to continue to import oil from Iran, which Pompeo said was necessary "to ensure a well-supplied oil market".

Iranian state media said millions turned out in towns and cities, swearing allegiance to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, although the BBC was unable to independently verify this figure. President Trump withdrew from the deal in May, and has since reimposed sanctions in 19 rounds.

The US sanctions are timed to coincide with the siege of the US embassy on 4 November 1979, which took place soon after the fall of the US-backed shah. "The US - and not Iran - is isolated", Zarif said in a tweet.

The tourists will depend on their famed T20 specialists who play in different leagues across the globe to come good. Introduced in the fifth over, Bumrah picked up another in-form batsman, Shimron Hetmyer (10), in his fourth over.

Hua urged all sides to keep in mind "long-term interests, fulfill their obligations and responsibilities and choose to stand on the right side of history". The waivers were only given to countries that are seriously trying to cut out their imports of Iranian oil.

Telecommunication Minister Mohammad Javad Azeri Jahromi and his deputy, Hamid Fatahi, both tweeted about the attack on Monday - the same day US sanctions on the country once lifted by the nuclear deal resumed.

Thousands of protesters gathered in front of the former U.S. Embassy, burning American flags and chanting "Death to America!"

Rouhani did not mention the name of the leaders of the four countries.

Rohani also vowed that Iran will "proudly bypass" US sanctions to sell oil.

Swift now needs to decide whether or not to abide by the US demand - a decision that could involve breaking European Union rules - although it may well be that banks will now shun Iranian transactions whatever Swift decides.

He claimed the sanctions would backfire and work against the United States and that "many countries from Europe to Russian Federation and China have opposed the sanctions".

The measures taking effect Monday restore all the sanctions that had previously been lifted under the accord, which had given Iran billions of dollars in sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program.

"Our objective is to starve the Iranian regime of the funds it uses to fund violent activity throughout the Middle East and around the world". If there were any, the U.S. would "aggressively pursue our remedies", he said. "America has been defeated by the Islamic Republic over the past 40 years".

"We have to make Americans understand that they can not talk to the great Iranian nation with the language of pressure and sanctions", Rouhani said in televised remarks. While for now not threatening to resume higher enrichment, Iranian officials in recent months have made a point to threaten that could resume at any time faster than before.

He said Washington believed the Iranian nation had lost their confidence in its clerical rulers.
