Democrats signal they want to investigate Jeff Sessions' ouster and replacement

Special counsel Robert Mueller and his team of prosecutors are in the process of writing a final report on the almost 18-month long investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 election, sources tell ABC News.

That investigation is now being lead by former FBI director Robert Mueller, who was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and has overseen the probe's work.

Matt Whitaker has been named acting US attorney general following the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

He also said on CNN previous year that he could see a scenario in which Sessions' replacement doesn't fire Mueller but "just reduces his budget to so low that his investigation grinds to nearly a halt".

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi called it a "blatant attempt" to undermine the Russian Federation probe, while Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer tweeted that "clearly, the president has something to hide".

Supreme Court rejects net neutrality appeal but FCC ruling stands
The high court in February refused to leapfrog that appeals court's review of Judge William Alsup's decision. Chief Justice John Roberts and new Trump appointee Brett Kavanaugh were both recused from the case.

"Many experts view Trump's firing yesterday of Attorney Jeff Sessions as a potential obstruction of justice attempt", said organizers of the protest, including Democrats Abroad Vancouver. "The president could, and has in our nation's history, said stop investigating this person or please investigate this other person".

Trump originally said he fired Comey on the recommendation of Sessions and Rosenstein for mishandling the inquiry into Clinton's use of private email when she was secretary of state, although the president later acknowledged he acted because of Comey's pursuit of "this Russian Federation thing".

"The president wanted to take action as quickly as possible in the Mueller investigation, " said Sen. In a separate editorial for CNN, he wrote that Mueller's team had already gone too close to a red-line during the scope of the probe.

Some Republicans appear to have shared the Democrats' concern over the future of the inquiry, which is being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Conway says that Rosenstein was at the White House Thursday and Friday.

Sessions, who was an early backer of the Trump campaign, recused himself in March 2017 from overseeing the Russian Federation investigation under a similar rule which prohibits officials from overseeing investigations into subjects with whom they have a "a personal or political relationship". Whitaker will oversee the Mueller investigation.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigns at Trump's request
The Department of Justice provided Yahoo News with a copy of an undated resignation letter from Sessions to the president. He later lost a Republican primary race against Roy Moore, who went on to be defeated by Democrat Doug Jones.

After that campaign, Whitaker helped start and served for three years as executive director for the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, a self-described "ethics watchdog" that often targets Democratic officials and groups with misconduct investigations and complaints.

The White House is bracing for the probe of Donald Trump's presidential campaign to fire up again.

Sessions endured the name-calling in silence, even as he aggressively carried out the administration's conservative policies, such as stripping federal funding from so-called sanctuary cities and states and rescinding protection for young adults brought into the country illegally as children.

The president can not directly fire the special counsel.

The iPad Pro will be faster than most portable computers
This revelation puts the recent marketing of the iPad Pro as a more miniaturized laptop than a tablet in ideal context. Apple's redesigned iPad Pro goes on sale Wednesday, but the first reviews of the new tablet were published on Monday.
