Crimea school gunman Vyacheslav Roslyakov had accomplice, say officials

Witnesses said Roslyakov tossed explosives into classrooms and opened fire on students during the attack at Kerch Polytechnic College on Wednesday. Initially thought to be a terrorist attack, officials later classified it as mass murder. They said the attack had started with an explosion, followed by more blasts, and a hail of gunfire.

Kremlin-appointed Crimean chief Sergei Aksyonov told Russian news agencies on Thursday that it is possible that the shooter had an accomplice.

The city of Kerch published a list on Thursday morning of the 19 people killed in a tragic Crimean technical college shooting, orchestrated by a lone teenage gunman.

The ombudsman, Lyudmila Lubina, said, according to Tass: "When they did a search and saw the computer, all information, messages and such had been deleted".

The girl, who broke up with Roslyakov at an unspecified time before the killing, said he was a shooting enthusiast.

Crimea, internationally recognized as part of Ukraine, was annexed by Russian Federation in 2014.

At least 10 of those who were wounded in a deadly shooting at a vocational school in Crimea will be airlifted to hospitals in Russian Federation, officials said.

The Kerch attack was by far the deadliest by a student in Russian Federation, raising questions about school security. Security was also increased at a new 19-kilometer (12-mile) bridge linking the peninsula with Russian Federation, which opened earlier this year.

Russian Health Minster Veronika Skvortsova said most of the victims were killed by gunfire, while others sustained injuries from metal objects that were lodged into their bodies due to the explosions. "Young people with unstable minds create false heroes for themselves". According to investigations, all the victims of the attack died from gunshot wounds and not from the explosion, as it had earlier been reported.

"The children's muscles are all "minced", basically, with small pieces of metal", Skvortsova told reporters in Kerch, "We have found nuts and metal balls in the liver, guts, and blood vessels of those whose internal organs were ruptured".

It called the shooting an "unprecedented crime in Russia", which has strict gun controls. Civilians can own only hunting rifles and smooth-bore shotguns and must undergo significant background checks. Roslyakov had only recently received a permit to own a shotgun and had bought 150 cartridges just a few days ago, according to local officials.
