Rumours predict that the MacBook Air will see a redesign with an improved screen and newer seventh or eighth-generation Intel Core chips bringing it into line with Apple's other computers.

Recently leaked iOS 12.1 beta, Apple has included a new bezel-less iPad icon hinting that the upcoming Pro tablet series will indeed embrace the edge-to-edge display feature of the iPhone X series and also boast Face ID security feature.

Face ID will enable Animojis (and the personalised variety known as Memojis) on iPads for the first time. The sides of the tablet appear to the completely flat like the sides of an iPhone 5 with no noticeable tapering.

Merkel’s CDU makes huge losses in Hesse election
The chancellor threw her weight behind her friend in Hesse and visited him four times on the campaign trail in recent weeks. The mass-circulation daily Bild also reported she said she won't run again as party leader.

Facial recognition has been a big hit since it arrived on the iPhone and has allowed Apple to make full use of the space on the front of their smartphone. While nothing is confirmed yet, obviously, the rumor mill has been pretty consistent: It's likely the turn of the iPad Pro and the desktop Macs to get refreshed.

Rather than hosting the press in California as it usually does, Apple is coming right to PCMag's backyard here in New York City. There's no reason to believe Apple won't once again livestream the event on its site, but Gizmodo will also be there, keeping you looped in on all the new hardware and why it matters.

The iPad Pro update comes at an important time for the device, which hasn't been refreshed since mid-2017.

The Mac Mini rises from the dead? This, combined with interest in larger smartphones and competing PCs, led Apple to report the fewest Mac sales since 2010 in its fiscal third quarter. "The 12" MacBook hasn't been updated in a while, and it's really due for some changes as well, so it would make sense if they either release a new Air as a lower-cost version, or make that the lower cost one, and make the Air into a bigger version of the 12" MacBook. The company hasn't done an overhaul of this line of computers in four years.

Here's how you can follow the event as it happens on Tuesday. The new MacBook Air will reportedly come with the same 13-inch screen size as the current Air, but the screen resolution is where will be the difference.

Last updated back in 2014, the Mac Mini technically isn't completely dead yet, but it sure seems like Apple is keeping it on minimal life support to appease home theatre enthusiasts and app developers who don't need a powerhouse machine.
