As expected, Verizon is launching fixed 5G services in four cities starting October 1.

Verizon's 5G home broadband will go live on October 1st. Instead of using the mobile 5G standard, Verizon will provide this service via mmWave technology, which uses the 30 to 300 GHz spectrum. Verizpon's main rival AT&T aspires to become the first network to offer mobile 5G in late 2018. Verizon is creating a website where you can enter your address and see if you're going to have coverage. After that, Verizon 5G Home will cost $50 per month for Verizon Wireless customers and $70 per month for non-customers.

The package includes a free router, free installation, and free upgrades, similar to Verizon's existing home broadband service.

Florence strengthens to Category 4, takes aim at Carolinas
An estimated 250,000 more people from the northern Outer Banks were due to be sent to higher ground starting at Tuesday midday. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has not announced any road blocks ahead of Hurricane Florence as of Monday afternoon.

Verizon will begin rolling out the service, called Verizon 5G Home, initially in four cities: Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento.

In some of its early discussions about its fixed 5G plans, Verizon executives hinted that the company was working on technology that would allow customers to install their own 5G 28 GHz receivers inside their homes or offices in order to obtain a 5G signal.

"We spent the last three years driving the industry to bring 5G to consumers as soon as possible".

Florence expected to become a 'hurricane' as it heads to US
Florence may make landfall anywhere from New England to the Carolinas as soon as Thursday as a Category 3 or higher hurricane. More than 3.9 million homes that would cost more than a $1 trillion to rebuild are at risk from hurricanes on the U.S.

5G is already the most over-hyped thing since the Y2K bug so Verizon seems to have made a decision to just ride the wave. And best of all, there will be no data caps... Good question. Simply put, 5G networking is the next major evolution of mobile wireless technology. MWC Americas, which starts today, is set to be an orgy of competing 5G firsts and who's to say that might not get a bit heated as attendees spill out into the LA bars.

Customers will also get three free months of YouTube TV and a free Apple TV 4K or Google Chromecast Ultra, Verizon said. Along with its in-house 5G Technology Forum and 5G Labs, Verizon collaborated with worldwide regulatory bodies, network equipment, and the device makers to advance in 5G technology. Taxes and fees are included in that rate, and there's no annual contract.
