Special Counsel Reportedly Agrees To Accept Written Answers From President

President Donald Trump has spent several months blasting former FBI director James Comey and Special Counsel Robert Mueller over their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election campaign.

Mueller's offer to accept written responses from Trump on questions about possible collusion was contained in a letter that Trump's lawyers received on Friday, the person said.

The person familiar with the letter said Mueller's office indicated it would later assess what additional information it needs from the president, leaving open the possibility that Mueller's team might still seek answers on obstruction-related questions in an in-person interview.

Trump then suggested that the special counsel personally dislikes him, and claimed Mueller's team of prosecutors had a partisan vendetta against him.

Trump's willingness to sit down with Mueller has always been a subject of contention.

Reached by ABC News, the Trump legal team declined to comment.

"We continue to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the office of the special counsel", Trump's lawyer Jay Sekulow told reporters.

The president's team has also reportedly been wary of sending Trump into an interview with Mueller. Neither charge holds much weight on their own, but in combination they're utter nonsense: If Mueller had a "serious business dispute with Trump dating back to 2011, why would Trump consider offering him the Federal Bureau of Investigation directorship in 2017? Clyde.'" He ran through some of the scandals, then circled back to how "absurd" it is Trump gets to pick any nominee, "let alone a lifelong partisan Republican like Brett Kavanaugh".

The president made the freaky claims during a wide-ranging interview with the conservative Daily Caller website, whose correspondent asked Trump whether Mueller was interfering in the midterm elections by not ending his Russian Federation probe by an artificial September 1 deadline.

The White House Counsel's Office, led by attorney Emmet Flood, has been girding to fight a subpoena for Trump's testimony under oath.

Trump's lawyers said that they fear Mueller could accuse Trump of perjury because the presdient remembers key events differently than other witnesses. You know, he's Comey's best friend, ' Trump said.
