Lions Were Close To Trade With Patriots For Rob Gronkowski

According to, the Patriots were in talks with Detroit to trade Gronkowski around the time of the National Football League draft.

According to Schefter, the Patriots and Lions nearly completed "a blockbuster trade" involving Gronkowski. The Lions tried to change Gronkowski's mind, but the 29-year-old refused to return their phone calls.

Amusing enough, the Patriots play against the Lions on Sunday Night Football in a game that marks the first time Matt Patricia will be coaching against his former team.
