'Then I hung up': Thomas Markle's heated row with Prince Harry

They said: "The trouble stemmed from well before the wedding when there must have been an opportunity for Harry and Meghan to pay a private visit to her father".

Instead of taking Harry's advice, Mr Markle made a secret arrangement to pose for a series of pictures - a decision he now bitterly regrets.

Back in November 2017, following news of their engagement, Harry and Meghan were interviewed by the BBC for an interview about their relationship. "The liaison with the royal family never answers back and there's no address I can write to", Markle said in video clips on the Sun website.

"Then I hung up.'In hindsight, he admits Harry was 'absolutely right" to criticise him.

Thomas Markle did another interview in late July, again promising it was his last interview.

Mr Markle, 74, made global headlines in May when he pulled out of walking his daughter down the aisle days before her wedding at Windsor, blaming a heart attack.

The same aide suggested that "the Palace should have invited the whole Markle family, as even if they hadn't all come, it would have reduced the fallout from disgruntled relatives".
