People living there, or in Portugal, Spain and the Democratic Republic of the Congo don't typically have to think about tropical weather systems - but Ernesto is closer to them than to South Florida. Given that some of the guidance (FSSE and HMON) are even higher than that, this seems like a reasonable forecast and is indicated below.

The term "subtropical" means the system now lacks the symmetrical characteristics of most tropical storms.

Tropical Storm Lane pushed westward across the eastern Pacific on Thursday, while Subtropical Storm Ernesto headed across the northern Atlantic in the general direction of Ireland and the United Kingdom.

When ‘truth isn’t truth’: 8 weird Rudy Giuliani moments
Which is exactly what it became on social media, within an hour of the show airing. "So tell me what the truth is", Giuliani said. That's an out-and-out lie, and a weird one since the public has known the truth for more than a year.

A subtropical storm has characteristics of a mid-latitude cyclone (those winter storms that hit the midwest and east coast that can bleed into spring) and a tropical system with a warm core.

Ernesto is centered about 695 miles (1,120 kilometers) southeast of Canada's Cape Race, Newfoundland, and is moving north near 8 mph (13 kph).

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Lane was packing sustained winds of 140 miles per hour with higher gusts and wasn't expected to start weakening until Sunday.

He also said the tweet was an attempt at transparency and that no one had reviewed it before he posted it. Elon Musk revealed that Tesla once tried to poach Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg to be his deputy.

Subtropical systems can transition into full blown tropical cyclones like Debbie did off west of the Azores in early August or as we saw with Hurricane Beryl, fall apart into remnants only to regenerate with the help of upper level upper energy.

So far, the Atlantic hurricane season has been relatively inactive in terms of major storms and hurricanes.

Also of note, is smoke from the California wildfires can be seen surrounding Subtropical Depression Five.
