Jose Mourinho delivers verdict on Man Utd's quiet transfer window

Jose Mourinho's hopes of reinforcing the Manchester United squad were extinguished as the transfer deadline came and went without any new arrivals.

Former Scottish worldwide Craig Burley raised the possibility that the club board were trying to push the Portuguese coach out of Old Trafford by "trying to make his life as miserable as possible".

Fred has been United's biggest signing of the summer.

Burley said: "It's incredible".

Manchester United missed out on some key signings to bolster areas of weakness in the summer transfer window, such as at centre-half and on the right wing. As soon as they want you, surely they've got to make it happen.

Tottenham first Premier League team to fail to make one summer signing
But there have been no new arrivals in north London , something which the Spurs manager said was in part down to Brexit making players more expensive.

"I would have liked that they had signed many more world-class players", Sanchez told ESPN Brasil's Natalie Gedra when asked before deadline day about United's quiet transfer window.

And his next comment has already led to backlash from Manchester United fans on social media after Mourinho said finishing behind City wasn't such a bad thing....

United's summer transfer business was restricted to the arrivals of Brazilian global midfielder Fred, the injured young Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant, signed from Stoke City as a third-choice goalkeeper.

Ayr-born Burley, who has 46 caps for Scotland added: "Clearly nowhere near enough has been done to bridge the points gap with Manchester City [the English Premiership champions] from a year ago". Internally, the greatest frustration for Mourinho has been waiting for the return those players who had the longest World Cup campaigns. The agenda here is real!

He shakes his head as he adds: "But to bring nobody in?" The most recent meeting was won 2-0 by Manchester United in 2017/18. "This is what you've got". Even with the poor recruitments, the 20-time champions will be expected to win the Premier League title. I depend on them.

GOP Rep. Chris Collins Indicted on Insider Trading Charges
On the day after the trial results were released, the company's stock lost 92 percent of its value. Chris Collins' lawyers responded swiftly, insisting he will be "completely vindicated".

"When I listen, when I read - not much but sometimes I do - it is hard to believe that we finished second", Jose said, "because you are capable of making people that finish second look like they were relegated, and people who win nothing and finish below us look like serial winners". "I mean, it's early for that, but I am painting a picture". There are ways to improve your team: one way is to spend a lot of money and to bring in lots of important players, another way is to work and that's the way we have to do it.

"Something's going on, I don't know what it is".

"But he's got great experience, he's been at top clubs, he's been in hard positions before, he's in a hard position now I think, but he needs to try to find a way to get out of it".

"This is Man United", said Merson. This led to the 22-year-old being dropped for the FIFA World Cup with France while Pogba played a massive role in his country's triumph in Russian Federation.

China to hit USA with tariffs on USA imports worth $16bn
The latest charge comes after the USA said it would implement another round of tariffs on $16 billion worth of Chinese goods. And President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on virtually everything China sells to the United States.
