Aretha Franklin's funeral will be live streamed and broadcast on TV

Aretha Franklin's funeral will be available to view both online and on television.

The funeral home providing services for Franklin said she used to pay for funerals for families in need, calling the home to offer help - "usually in full without being asked or prompted to do so", Linda Swanson, executive vice president of Swanson Funeral Home, told The Associated Press.

The two-day viewing is part of a week of commemorations for the acclaimed singer, who will be laid to rest on Friday.

Franklin's funeral will be held August 31 in her hometown of Detroit.

Yet she added Franklin, who died at age 76 on August 16 of pancreatic cancer, also was "so unapologetically black" and "so proud of being a black woman".
