Meghan McCain Slams Trump's Putin Summit as 'Extremely Dangerous,' 'Un-American' and 'Unpatriotic'

Following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in which Putin denied any meddling, Trump said he sees no reason why Russia would have interfered.

President Donald Trump says he meant the opposite when he said in Helsinki that he doesn't see why Russian Federation would have interfered in the 2016 USA elections.

Trump stunned the world on Monday by shying away from criticizing the Russian leader for Moscow's actions to undermine the election and cast doubt on US intelligence agencies, prompting calls by some USA lawmakers for tougher sanctions and other actions to punish Russia.

Trump said Putin made a "very powerful" denial of Moscow's 2016 campaign influence operation and said he has "confidence in both parties". Specifically, do I believe the professional and patriotic men and women of our intelligence community, including the Director of National Intelligence, or a mafia regime leader like Putin?

Trump doubled down on that idea at his joint news conference with Russian President Putin, saying the hard relationship was fixed.

He received harsh backlash for his comments made after a summit with Putin on Monday, in which he said he doesn't see "any reason why" Russian Federation would interfere.
