During a meeting in the Austrian capital of Vienna, Rouhani told Yukiya Amano, director general of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), that Iran might reconsider its cooperation level with the international nuclear watchdog.

Three European nations along with Russian Federation and China vowed at the meeting to keep the energy exporter plugged into the global economy despite the U.S. withdrawal and threat of renewed sanctions, including on Iran's key crude oil exports.

Rouhani was quoted by state media and on his website after calls with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as having told them he was disappointed with their package which did not go far enough.

In calls with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said since the U.S. withdrawal "Iran has been dealing with economic issues and problems in banking relations and oil" and that foreign companies were "skeptical" about continuing their business, Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

Foreign ministers from the remaining signatories met in Vienna today to work around continuing U.S. efforts to kill the deal, but U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, was missing.

However, Rouhani told French President Emmanuel Macron by telephone on Thursday that the package of economic measures failed to offset sufficiently the effects of the US pullout and its re-imposition of nuclear-related sanctions.

Since Trump's announcement, Iran's rial currency has fallen, prices have risen and the country has been hit by street protests and strikes. Iran has said it had nothing to do with the plot and has demanded the official be released without delay.
