Novak Djokovic has crashed out of the French Open and cast doubt over whether he will play at Wimbledon.

An elbow injury has limited the 12-time Grand Slam champion's playing time this year, while he was treated on his neck during the defeat by Cecchinato.

After losing a point during the tiebreaker in the second set, Djokovic angrily whacked his racket into the clay.

The Serbian, who has struggled with injury for much of the past year, was asked when he planned to make his first grass-court appearance.

When asked if he would compete in the grass-court season, he replied: 'I don't know.

"I don't know. I don't know what I'm going to do. After then I warmed up and it was better, but yeah, just a pity that I couldn't capitalise on some break points at 4-1 in the fourth set".

"Me and my brother (Mischa) are guys that spend three, four hours a day in the gym, lifting heavy weights, on the treadmill".

North Korea Removes Top Three Military Officials Ahead Of Summit

"I can not give you any answer".

"How do I regroup?"

'Well, it's never been hard for me to congratulate and hug an opponent that just we shared a great moment on the court, ' he added.

But the 12-time grand slam champion overcame the odd lapse to triumph, taking the third via a tie-break after Bautista Agut failed to serve it out and then breezing through the fourth.

He led Cecchinato 5-2 in the fourth set, but lost the lead.

Thiem reached his third successive French Open semi-final with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 demolition of a hobbled and exhausted Alexander Zverev who admitted he was close to quitting the tie.

Cecchinato received a penalty point immediately after Djokovic was treated, for unsportsmanlike conduct after a lengthy argument with the umpire and supervisor for leaving the court without permission.

On Tuesday, his 6-3, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6 victory over Novak Djokovic sent him through to the semifinals of a Grand Slam event, a remarkable achievement for a man who broke into the world's top 100 only in November.

He said: "Maybe I'm sleeping".

"It's fantastic. It's unbelievable for me".
