The United States will stop holding war games with South Korea, U.S. President Donald Trump said here Tuesday after a historic summit with Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The mistake came in a transcript of a briefing U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave on Monday.

Let's not forget that the things which got Kim Jong-Un a seat opposite Donald Trump - his ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons program - are only made possible by Pyongyang using forced labor and diverting scarce resources from food to the military.

Meeting with staged ceremony on a Singapore island, Trump and Kim came together for a summit that seemed just unthinkable months ago, clasping hands in front of a row of alternating USA and North Korean flags, holding a one-on-one meeting, additional talks with advisers and a working lunch.

The State Department is declining to release any additional information about the calls.

Axworthy believes North Korea's ultimate goal isn't denuclearization, but instead, removing the US military presence in the area.

Trump had also wanted a commitment to ending the Korean War, which was stopped by an armistice, not a peace treaty, leaving the Korean Peninsula still technically in a state of war.

The US side however reportedly believes that an immediate tangible outcome is unlikely following the meet.

"I think that very quickly I'll know that something good is going to happen", Trump said in Canada where we met leaders of other G7 economies.

The summit, which was nearly scrapped by a mercurial Trump last month, comes after a flurry of diplomatic activities and barrage of invective and insults traded between the US President and an equally aggressive Kim. Moon Jae-in, South Korea's president, said after the meeting had started: "Perhaps the minds of our people are on Singapore. I think he's going to start now", he said.

"No one has shown more contempt for other nations and for the well-being of their own people than the depraved regime in North Korea", Trump said at the time.

Unsurprisingly, the footage found its way onto social media - where users had a lot to say.

The question of North Korea's dismal human rights record came up a few times at the news conference, and at first, Trump said that he and Kim discussed it "relatively briefly", but later saying that "it was discussed at length outside of the nuclear situation".
