Mom takes issue with classroom rhyme explaining school lockdown procedure for kindergarteners

Upon closer inspection, the eerie lyrics are actually a set of instructions for children to follow in the event of an active shooter situation, apparently set to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".

Cohen said he isn't upset with the classroom teacher for hanging up the poem.

Somerville mayor Joseph Curtatone and superintendent Mary Skipper, whose districts include the kindergarten with the Lockdown song, told the Huffington Post the poem was a result of "the world we live in".

The post, written on Wednesday, had been shared more than 8,000 times and retweeted nearly 20,000 times at the time of writing.

The concerned mother is not angry with the school, and is happy with the way they are taking the necessary steps to educate their students on how to handle a lockdown scenario.

One child's parent, Georgy Cohen, first spotted the song on the wall on a tour of the school. "Now it's time to have some fun!".

On Wednesday, Georgy Cohen, the mother of a child who will be entering kindergarten in the coming school year, shared a gut-wrenching photo of the classroom she visited.

"It's jarring", Cohen told the Globe in a telephone interview [on 7 June 2018]. She said she and her classmates were huddled in a corner, scared they were going to die. However, she also made it clear that she was not "angry" at the school.

Their age difference is said to have come between them and they were said to be at very different places in their lives. The two were apparently introduced by J.Law's best friend, a woman with a more normal-sounding name: Laura Simpson .

That same day, Cohen went on social media to clarify her position: she's not angry at the school, she's angry with the current political/cultural climate "that brought us to this sad state".

"To be shocked by it is important", she told The Globe.

USA in the past few months have witnessed major school massacres, including the February 14 shootout at a high school in Florida that killed 17 people prompting widespread calls to reform gun laws. "Students in Somerville and across the country know how unnatural this is", it continued. "Stay outraged. And if it gets somebody to do something - to give money to an organisation or to call their representatives - then great, I think that's important". "It is jarring - it's jarring for students, for educators and for families".
