He said Sharif is not only willing to destroy all institutions, including army, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Supreme Court, but also the future of Pakistan in order to protect his wrondoings. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai?

The Pakistani military has asked Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to discuss "recent misleading media statements on the Mumbai incident", said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani armed forces.

Since the publication of the interview, Indian media has declared his statements a "confession" of Pakistan's role in the Mumbai attacks, which left 166 people dead, and demanded swift response from New Delhi. "Nawaz Sharif's statement is tantamount to treason". With Pakistan being a nuclear state, it is a cause for worry for the worldwide community if its prime ministers are puppets in the hands of an army that wields power without responsibility.

Sharif's claim on the Pakistani establishment's support for terror groups was in reference to the worldwide community not accepting Islamabad's "narrative" of being a "victim" of terrorism.

Mr Sharif's remark contradicts the official stand of Islamabad, which insists that India has not furnished enough evidence to prove that Pakistani terrorists were involved.

Pakistan has so far not completed trial in the 26/11 case.

The PML-N and its leaders have, since Saturday, been scrambling to explain what the statement actually meant, while Nawaz has since read out the excerpts from the interview asking whether he has said anything wrong. Indian media is using this statement as admission of Pakistan's involvement in the terrorist attacks.

Additionally, Sharif's statement has been slammed by his PMLN's major opponents, the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who have claimed he is merely parroting the narrative put forward by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
