Liverpool's Gomez to miss Champions League final and World Cup

This news is the latest in a long line of injury blows for Liverpool, with Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip already ruled out of the Champions League final due to injuries.

The 20-year-old injured himself in England's friendly clash with Netherlands in March, and did not fully recover prior to the Reds' Premier League encounters with West Brom and Stoke City.

On Instagram, the 20-year-old said: "Gutted to confirm that my season for both club and country is over having undergone successful ankle surgery".
