Kristen goes barefoot at Cannes

Cannes Film Festival is all about making fashion statements, while some chose to do that, there were others like Kristen Stewart making political statements at the famed red carpet.

As reported by the Telegraph, Kristen Stewart was attending the premiere of her movie BlacKkKlansman when she chose to ditch her black Louboutins and walk up the stairs barefoot. "If you're not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you can not ask me either".

Kristen Stewart Just Broke All The Red Carpet Rules At Cannes

The Cesar-winning actress also stormed the red carpet in another way when she teamed up with Blanchett and DuVernay on Saturday for a march highlighting the lack of female directors included at Cannes over the years. She walked the carpet and then stopped to remove her shoes and walked the stairs without her heels.

Her action had apparently not been sanctioned by the festival organisers. However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, festival director Thierry Fremaux later said that the existence of a high heel policy was just a rumor. It's just like you simply can not ask me to do something that you are not asking him [to do].
