Texas governor pledges 1000 National Guard troops to US-Mexico border

The governor met with New Mexico National Guard leaders over the weekend to determine deployment plans and duty assignments, The Washington Post reported. Arizona officials announced they were sending 225 National Guard members to the border Monday and would deploy another 113 on Tuesday.

Almost 500 troops will be deployed to the southwest USA border immediately.

Under federal law Mr Trump invoked in his proclamation calling for National Guard troops.

That's erased a decline for which Trump repeatedly took credit.

California has not decided whether or not to send its National Guard troops to support border control.
