Severe weather expected today

Severe weather will soon be moving into the area, and today's dramatic change in conditions is preparing the way. This cold front will be bring the potential for strong to severe storms anywhere from midnight Sunday to noon. While an isolated shower or two will be possible in the late morning and early afternoon, the greatest threat of isolated severe storms will arrive between 9:00 PM Sunday and 2:00 AM Monday.

"The threat for severe weather will increase throughout the day up until around 5-to-6 p.m.", Robertson told the Herald.

The main impacts from these storms will include damaging winds as well as very heavy rain. The remainder of the state is under a slight risk with scattered severe storms possible. Through the afternoon, some isolated thunderstorms may develop around the Quad Cities area, likely non-severe.

Venues like Kauffman Stadium have severe weather plans in place to keep fans safe. Tuesday night low temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
