Saturday Night Takeaway: Dec hosts without Ant

Declan Donnelly is zoomed in on alone while waving to the audience on the Saturday Night Takeaway set and shouting out a countdown while the crowd cheers.

"We've got a jam-packed show this evening, and I've got twice the amount of work to do".

Ant is still expected to get screen time in a pre-recorded comedy sketch.

During the show, which aired live on Saturday (31 March), Dec only briefly touched on Ant's absence, making light of the situation a few times during the show.

When opening the show, Dec said: "Thank you very much".

Speaking about going it alone, Dec said in a statement: "Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of "Saturday Night Takeaway" will go ahead".

Although officially hosting solo, Dec was supported by presenter Davina McCall as part of a new segment related to McCall's own show, This Time Next Year.

The presenter will be without Ant McPartlin for the penultimate episode in the series although Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern will be on hand in their regular support roles.

Ant McPartlin appeared to have been edited out of the trailer for Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway finale.

Dec also thanked fans for their support in the closing moments of the show, where he looked visibly exhausted after having been spun upside down with Paloma Faith.

Dec, 42, who recently confirmed he is going to be a father, will also present next week's final episode in Florida.
