Maker of jet engine in fatal accident wants more inspections

On Sunday, the airline announced 40 voluntary flight cancellations out of its approximately 4,000 scheduled flights due to the inspections.

According to FlightAware, 119 Southwest flights were canceled Monday morning as of 10:00 a.m.

Southwest is also coping with the aftermath of its first accident-related passenger fatality in more than 40 years of operation. When engines hit 20,000 cycles, they should receive the inspection, which should be repeated every 3,000 cycles, representing roughly two years of service.
